' Adaptation on the telescope

An other way to adapt a web cam

T he second operation consists inadapting the camera on the refractor or the reflector. Here is avery simple and cost less adaptation example. Moreover, it allowsto let the camera in its original case.

Get empty boxes of 24x36 mm photo film. Without making publicity for FUJI, FUJI's film boxes are very well adapted for this application, because they ideally fits in the web cam's flange, and the diameter of the box is 31,7 mm, so it fits perfectly in a 31,75 mm size's eyepiece mounting.

Cut the central part of the film box 's top (it's possible to use a white warmed needle).

Stick the top on the flange with cyanocrylate glue.

Cut he film box at 5 mm from the bottom of the box.
Don't throw away the bottom as it would be useful as a camera's top.

Mount the box's body on the  top.

You should put some plaster on the ventilation holes of the camera, in order to prevent dust to get on the CCD sensor.

That 's all folks ! Your is ready to be set in the eyepiece mounting.
It takes you less than one hour to adapt your web cam on your instrument, and the operation's cost is insignificant.

This a prime focus camera mounting, but you can use it with one or two barlow's lens.

If you want to take photosusing eyepiece's projection, its possible to make a mountingwhich allows you to adapt a universal T-ring on your camera. There are many ways to do it, and everyone will find the onewhich is best fitted from his own point of view.

An other way to adapt a web cam

An other one of my camerawas modified in a different way. With the following mounting, itis possible to take photos with conventional objectives (Pentaxobjectives in my case), or with an universal T-ring mounted onthe instrument. A top of camera objective and a top of a Pentaxbayonet were scarified for this mounting. The printed circuit isscrewed on  the pentax top with the two original screws. Usea top of a hair spray bottle (for example) to prevent themounting from the dust ; and for the same reason, use the top ofthe bayonet for the CCD sensor.
